Modern Arnis Class

Arnis is one of the most effective forms of self defense in the world. Not only are students trained to defend themselves against armed or unarmed encounters, but they are highly skilled at countering their opponents attacks at every angle.

The late Grandmaster Remy Presas was a national champion from the Philippines who brought his skill and vision of the art to the United States in 1975. He revitalized Modern Arnis by combining aspects of single and double stick, knife, sword, empty hand, trapping, locks and throws, and ground fighting. Known around the world as a master innovator, Grandmaster Presas was inducted into the Black Belt Hall of Fame in 1982 as Instructor of the Year and again in 1994 as Black Belt Weapon Instructor of the year.

In 2000, Grandmaster Presas granted the title, Master of Tapi-Tapi to only a few individuals whom he felt reached the highest level of proficiency in the art of Modern Arnis. Master Ken Smith Islanders Karate is one of them.
